$100 Challenge

This past week I was able to secure a domain name for what will be used for advertising my pop up dress shop. I will be collecting formal dresses that can be reused and sold to those that normally cannot afford an expensive dress. With homecomings and winter formals coming up and many of the girls would love to go but having the money to purchase a dress can be costly. I plan on selling the dresses at a very minimal cost. The timing might be an issue for the homecoming but winter formal is near the end of the year so I will have time to collect and clean the dresses. By November  I will advertise the location on the web site to where they will be able to come and try on the dresses and purchase them. My husband has the technology to create the web page and to do the social media by texting out to the girls that have registered on the site. I am excited to make sure this will go forward and earn a little cash for the charity that I signed up for. I am hoping to make this a yearly event and possibly expand this to wedding dresses.

Today I feel a bit overwhelmed I am not sure I am understanding the project. I donated money to the Kiva organization but I am not sure what I am suppose to do next. Trying to understand this 100.00 project is confusing.

I decided to start a business to sell gently used formals such as prom dresses, wedding dresses and ties where for the local kids can come and buy a dress at a less expensive donation. I will begin taking donations of last year's dresses from my community. We have a homecomings that will be happening soon as well as the winter formals. I will advertise through a facebook page. I have already collected a few dresses from my daughters and nieces. I am hoping to get a variety of sizes. All of my donations will go to help Kiva - Serra Leone Dance group to help in there aide to bring the needed supplies of water to that community.

Reading and learning from some of the other I am hoping that I will start to understand what I am to be doing.

What I have learned and reflected upon this week in the reading Marketing - Defined, explained and applied is that it is not just a simple sales ad that goes into creating a marketing plan. I was impressed to read about the Social Responsibility of marketing. A business is felt through its products and service. I recently had an opportunity to stay 3 nights at a luxury resort on the Disneyland properties and I was so impressed by the service and relations they had with each of their quest. From the moment we drove in we were greeted with friendly smiles and immediately taken care of. I truly felt like a princess. I would recommend that hotel to everyone.
